34: My Book! When a Child's Anxiety Takes Over: A Mother's Struggle to Save her Child from Emetophobia

My book is now available through Amazon in paperback and kindle. You can also find it for the nook from Barnes and Noble.

An email I received from a therapist who specializes in emetophobia:

"O.M.G. What a great book! I finished work at 5 pm and it's now 8pm - I read the whole thing in one sitting!
I will say more about it next week when I have some time but right now I just want to say a huge THANK YOU for writing it. I will do what I can to get it recognized. This book will give lots of parents hope that listening to therapists and following their instructions really does pay off. Exposure therapy seems outrageous but it sure does work, and it is proven again and again in scientific studies to be safe and valid.
I'd love to meet you and your daughter one day, on Skype at least! And find out Dr. G's real name and speak with her as well."

  2. I want to congratulate you on your book. I remember a comment you made early in your blog. "I'm not a writer." Clearly you are. It seems that Dr. G gave you more than your daughter's future. She gave you your voice and the confidence to share your story. You are going to help so many people and change lives in a way you never expected.

  3. I am a 14 year old girl that's just like your daughter, with one difference- I haven't beat my phobia yet. I ordered your book and just read it in an hour, as soon as it arrived. I could relate to so much! Everything you describe pretty much applies and I would like to work on some of the same things, now I know what to do. I would love to ask you a few questions about it all... If you'd be okay with that, please email me at anjaboneau@gmail.com

  7. Micheline,

As I sit hear and read your story with tears rolling down my face, I have to thank you for writing this blog. My 9 year old daughter has been suffering terribly from Emetophobia since March of 2015. It got so bad, the private school that she was attending said they did not have enough “resources” to deal with her, she had stopped going to school for a while and I had stumbled upon your blog last year in desperation.

I am in the process of finishing your blog, (I have skipped around a lot) and in the process of ordering your book. I would love to share our journey with you if you are interested, thank you: camccarth@yahoo.com

  8. My daughter's been suffering for about 4-5years and been under a child phycologist in the past, they never came up with the reason she was so anxious and why she was particularly scared of being ill or the phobea and name for it! A lady I work with found out about Emetophobia on the internet and sent me a link about it, the symptoms described my daughter and how she is perfectly, and so I started to do some googling, I was sat feeling desperate and in tears when I came across your book on Amazon after ordering a book by a UK specialist called thrive, I immediately selected your book and it came the next day! I have just finished it in 24hours and though your daughters symptoms were far more extreme than my daughters the issues are the same and I could see my daughter getting worse if we don't combat them now....so thank you for sharing your story I realise now that we aren't at the same stage but it makes me more determined to combat this issue now and stop things getting worse for my daughter. Well done on your journey and I hope your daughter is doing well.

    1. Thank you for buying my book. Yes, trying to combat it early and finding a psychologist who really understands phobias is important. This is a tough phobia which I am finding out doesn't truly ever go away for some people. My daughter is doing well and will hopefully never slip back to where she was when I wrote this blog. However, it has crept back into her life. With some weekly psychological help, we are getting on top of things again.
