We have arrived at the
clinic for our final day of the intensive, almost daily, therapy. Next week we
will be meeting only two days for a total of 4 hours. I leave her there and go
home to get my son so my husband can get back to work. Dr. G calls me after a
bit and tells me I can come to get her. Instead of going to the waiting room as
usual, she tells me to come to room 215. We arrive and walk inside the room
where she is sitting at the table with a bowl of vomit which is on the opposite
side of the table. I am amazed! She is calm. She is smiling and we are all
talking about the day. I can't even believe it! Last week she was having a full
blown panic attack for 4 hours and now she is sitting with vomit! We talk about
how far she has come and how proud we are of her.
We get into the car and we decide we need to celebrate. She talks about which prize from the prize box she wants and I apprehensively say "Hey! Let's go out for dinner to celebrate!" I don't know, this may be pushing it, but I just throw the idea out there. We have not eaten out in a long while. She thinks about it and is not sure yet. I let her think it over and I tell her we can go anywhere she wants. She decides that she wants to go to one of our favorite places, which is close to our house, for Japanese. She says she may not eat anything and not to get mad if she doesn't eat there, but that she will try. I promise her that I am happy if we just get there. I am happy even if she takes one bite.

She showers and
gets dressed up. We get there and I let her choose whether to sit inside or out.
We sit outside and she is looking calm and happy. I am so proud and I take a
photo of her to mark our celebration. She orders what she used to get
there all the time and eats a really good amount. She is not making any of us
try it first and she did not go to wash her hands first. Is this my kid?!? It
is. I haven't seen her in a while, but it is!
Because our
friends were not able to join us tonight, we decide we have to do it all over
again tomorrow night with them. She chooses the same place again. I am trying
to convince her to try another restaurant, but she is not comfortable with that
yet. We celebrate again, she eats a lot, and we have a really fun night. I am
sooooooo happy!
